More Information About Lanlivery
Lanlivery (Cornish: Lannlivri) is a village and civil parish in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The village, through which the Saints' Way runs, is located approximately 1.5 miles West of Lostwithiel. History The manor of Penkneth was one of the 17 Antiqua maneria of the Duchy of Cornwall. Institutions The parish church is dedicated to St Brevita or Bryvyth, a saint of whom nothing is known. The building was originally cruciform but was enlarged in the 15th century by the addition of a magnificent tower and the south aisle. The churches of Lostwithiel and Luxulyan were originally chapelries dependent on Lanlivery.[1] "One of the great churches of Cornwall" according to John Betjeman.[2] Lanlivery is the home of Churchtown, a holiday centre for adults and children with physical and learning disabilities: the centre is operated by the national charity Vitalise.
